As a result of increasing tourism pressure on some of the other, more established routes, the Kilimanjaro Park authorities decided to construct the Lemosho Route. It is one of the better-planned routes as a result of this. In order to provide hikers the best opportunity of reaching the mountain’s peak, it has been painstakingly planned with lesser elevation rises, longer distances, and more time for acclimatization to the altitude.

Offering breathtaking views from around the peak, the Lemosho path on Kilimanjaro takes around eight days to complete and is sometimes recognized as the mountain’s most beautiful climbing route. You should pick Lemosho, regarded as one of the more recent routes, for your ascent. For the 8-day Lemosho Route Climbing Kilimanjaro Trekking & Hikes package, our company, a market leader in this field, offers skilled guiding services. Most of our clients ascend Kilimanjaro using this route, and almost all express great satisfaction with it. Lemosho is, therefore, highly recommended.

The Lemosho Path

Lemosho is our first option for climbing to the highest point in Africa since it provides amazing opportunities to acclimate untouched wildlife, captivating vistas of the surrounding terrain, and a relatively small number of other climbers.

After a four-hour drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate, you will find yourself on the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro; from there, the route will take you to the renowned Shira Plateau. You will next embark on a voyage through the various temperature ranges, starting in the alpine meadows and ending in the never-ending ice. The path has the highest success percentage of any of Kilimanjaro’s routes and is clear-cut and uncomplicated.

Depending on how much time you spend on the process, you can choose from programs lasting six, seven, or eight days. Longer programs are always recommended over shorter ones as they enable better acclimatization.

A high-altitude drop-off marks the beginning of the 6- and 7-day Lemosho programs. This implies that an off-road vehicle will take you to an elevation of 3,500 meters (or 11,500 feet), from which the walk will start. This is intended to speed up the acclimatization process because the higher you start, the easier it will be for you to adjust to the new environment.

After lunch the group will depart on an acclimatization hike towards Shira 1 Camp that features a 300 meter gain in altitude, after which you will hike back down to Mti Mkubwa Camp, where a hot dinner will be waiting.

Note: The acclimatization hike is an easy trek with a slight gain in altitude done in order to speed up the acclimatization process. You should take the acclimatization hikes very seriously.

At night you may experience discomfort associated with acclimatization to the high altitude: because of a reduction in your waking breathing pattern, your body gets less oxygen than during the day. Taking altitude into account, you may therefore start feeling sick and have a headache. Pay attention to your own body and tell your guide if you start feeling any symptoms of altitude sickness.
